The Vampire Diaries s01e09 is entitled "History Repeating" In this episode, a mysterious new history teacher, Alaric Saltzman (guest star Matt Davis, "Legally Blonde") arrives at the high school. When Elena (Nina Dobrev), Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Caroline (Candice Accola) hold a sance, the results are stranger than any of them expected. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finally reveals to Stefan (Paul Wesley) the stunning reason he has returned to Mystic Falls.
